Dehydrated strawberries are a wonderful summer treat! They are also a great way to preserve any extra fruits you have from the garden. My strawberry harvest was pretty lackluster this year… I purchased these strawberries on sale for $1.29! This was a great price so I bought 3 pints 2 for dehydrating and one to eat fresh.
Dehydrated fruits can last up to a year when stored properly. This is a great way to store locally produced food and in season produce!
I purchased my dehydrator from Amazon of course.. And I absolutely love it! Purchase your own here!
You can dehydrate anything.. I dehydrate herbs, make sweet potato chips, pickle chips and fruit chips, but the possibilities are endless. It is easy to use and you don’t have to worry about overdrying or burning anything. You can just turn the dehydrator on and forget about it for 6 hours or so…
It took about 6-12 hours for my strawberries to dry to my liking. I did one batch that was a little bit more leathery than the other. The 12 hour batch was more crisp. I left my dehydrator on all night and the chips were done in the morning.
You can store your dehydrated strawberries in an airtight container that is dry. They should last for a year if you can avoid eating them for that long!
Happy dehydrating!

This looks like the same dehydrator I have, it’s great! I haven’t tried strawberries yet, do you just eat them as is or do you add them to anything? Are they any good rehydrated?

I love it! I didn’t add anything to the strawberries because I don’t like to sweeten anything that I don’t have to! But you could if you wanted a more candied flavor. I haven’t tried rehydrating yet, but I just eat them plain or with cereal. 😀
